The Dental Implant Procedure, Step by Step

A clear picture of what to expect when you choose dental implants, from your first consultation to chewing comfortably again.

1. Consultation & Planning

We review your dental history, evaluate your gums and jawbone, and discuss your goals. We determine whether you need bone grafting or sinus augmentation, and map out your personalized treatment plan.

2. Implant Placement

The titanium implant is gently placed into the jawbone. Typically this takes less than an hour for a simple placement, and only the treatment area needs to be anesthetized — over 99% of patients do not need a nerve block.

3. Healing & Integration (Osseointegration)

Over the following weeks, the implant fuses with the bone. With modern materials this usually takes about 8 weeks. We may offer same-day teeth in many cases, especially for front teeth.

4. Restoration

Once healed, your restorative dentist places the permanent post (abutment) and a lifelike crown — or connects your implant-supported bridge or denture — and you're back to enjoying a full, confident smile.

5. Follow-Through Care

We provide supportive maintenance and regular check-ups so your implants stay healthy for years — even decades — to come.

Is the Implant Process Right for You?

About 96% of implants fuse successfully to bone, and titanium is extremely well tolerated — we're not aware of any reported allergic reaction to it in our 15 years of placing implants. Whether you're missing one tooth or all of your teeth, implants open up a new world of solutions.
